Omosis through semi-permeable membrane (starch and iodine in dialysis tubing)?

Cells are covered by a plasma membrane which is a semi permeable membrane which allow selective transport of solutes and solvents through the membrane. Actually, cell constitute nucleus and cytroplasm. cytroplasm is not a pure solution but a colloidal mixture containg alot of organelles and solutes. Around the cell, there is an inter cellular matrix which contain proteins and glycoproteins which connect adjascent cells and helping the transport between cells and provide support to the cell. But in cell, not only diffusion, but active transport using energy and carrier proteins are also being used for the transport of solvent. only a limited amount of transport is taking place via diffusion.
