Alcohol and Menopause question?

I am 47 years old and starting menopause. I feel like I am going insane. I have tried herbal remedies and nothing is working. I think I maybe have to go on hormones. I have noticed that if I drink alcohol alot of my symptoms go down where I can bear them. I feel so much better. I don't want to turn myself into an alcoholic but its the only thing that seems to help. I am just wondering why it is helping? and if any other women have experienced this? The only reason I have not gone to a doctor is I can't afford the whole process which will happen if I do. I have checked out the cost and I will end up spending about 300 dollars just to have a doctor visit...probably a l exam...hormone testing and prescription. I don't have medicaid or insurance. I know alcohol costs money too but I only am paid once a month. In the moment of going crazy it is the affordable option I have been trying to use to keep me sane. Real answers only please. I am desperate here. Any woman who has gone through this please help. Remember I have already tried all the herbals and creams. Thanks.
